i got this quote from somewhere else

There are numerous hadith that confirms that praying in the masjid is fardh, including where the people who pray at home are hypocrites and another Prophet (sal) said he would burn the house of a person not attending the masjid for five day prayers.

Is it true? especially the bit in bold?

From what I understood the hadith about would burn the houses was referring to the Jumuah?

It is not compulsory to complete every single salah in the masjid, because there is hadeeth which tells us the earth is a masjid for us and when the time comes upon us for salah then pray, but the importance of praying in congregation is extremely emphasised and it is better for the men if they are able to pray salat in the masjid, in the jamat insha allah. However if they live far from the masjid for example, they could at least fulfil the praying in congregation by praying with their wife and family, but the reward in the masjid would be more wallahu alam.

There must be a lot of info on this topic, and i think sis yusra made a topic about it in lifestyle so insha allah u can read that and people can add more to this

is praying in congregation fard?

Almost, for men.

According to Sayyidna Abdullah bin Masoud, Radi-Allahu anhu, the Holy Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, said: "O Muslims! Allah has prescribed paths of right guidance for you among which is the offering of the daily prayers in congregation in the masjid, which is the offering of the daily prayers in congregation in the masjid; if you start saying your prayers individually at home, as so-and-so does, you will be forsaking the Sunnah of your Prophet, and if you forsake the Sunnah of your Prophet, you will certainly be going astray." is praying in congregation fard?
For men, I'm pretty sure that it is. For women, the prophet (salallahu 'alayhi wa salllam) said, "The best place for a woman to pray is her home" (from my memory).

[62:9-10]
O ye who believe! When the call is heard for the prayer of the day of congregation, haste unto remembrance of Allah and leave your trading. That is better for you if ye did but know. And when the prayer is ended, then disperse in the land and seek of Allah's bounty, and remember Allah much, that ye may be successful.

That verse refers to Friday prayer, in Arabic it says 'Yowm Al-Gom'ah'. :)

nope its not fard, as if it would be then praying alone ur salah would not be accepted. if i'm correct in the number its 27 times better in degree in performing in jamat (remember its not in reward its in degree), ie even if ur at home try performing in congregation ie ur family even if its 2 people ie the imam and a follower.
