There was a woman known as Maashetat Fir'awn.. She was a woman who was the hairdresser of Fir'awns daughter. Fir'awn the man who would say 'I do not know any other God but me!'..

This woman had embraced Islam in secret and so nobody knew of her eemaan. One day she was combing the hair of his (Fir'awns) daughter and the comb fell to the ground. As she reached to pick it up, without thinking twice, unconciously she said 'bismillah'.. (in the name of Allah (SWT)..

Pharoahs daughter quite alarmed said 'Allah, Abi?'.. 'Are you saying Allah my father'? The woman replied.. 'No! Allah the God of your father and yourself and me'.. The daughter became angry and went to Fir'awn and said to him 'Father, this woman worships another God besides you!'..

Fir'awn was furious saying 'call her to me'...and so the woman came and stood before him - a woman of five children, one whom she was still breastfeeding (A woman in front of this 'great' pharoah!). He said to her.. 'Who is your Lord'? She replied saying.. 'Allah! is my Lord..'.. so Fir'awn asked her 'WHO is Allah?' She answered saying 'Allahu rabbi wa rabbuk'.. 'Allah, My Lord and yours'..

Fir'awn even more furious called for the chains to torture this woman.. each time asking, 'who is your Lord?' and each time she responded.. 'Allahu Rabbi wa rabbuk!'.. finally Fir'awn ordered his courtsman to bring him a large container.. and then he spilt hot boiling oil into it. He then ordered for her children to be brought forth, one by one.. and he said to the woman 'worship me! I am your God', she said 'Never!'.. so he took her first son and he threw him into the oil.. in front of his mothers eyes his flesh fell off his body and his bones dissintegrated. Then they brought her next son and she was firm! Allahu Akbar.. and then her third and then her fourth..

Then finally her fifth who was in her arms.. but now.. she was about to pull back! She was about to pull back in front of the eyes of all the people when suddenly Allah (SWT) from above the seven heavens caused the child to speak.. The child said..

'isbirri yaa ummi'..

'isbirri yaa ummi'..

'isbirri yaa ummi'..

..'innaki alal haqq inallaha qadwa adaki bijannah' - Be patient my mother you are on the truth - Allah has promised you paradise- Keep going mother!

...And then they threw her son into the oil.. Subhan'Allah..!!!!!!! By now the woman knew that she was next.. and she began to cry.. and Fir'awn said 'why are you crying?' she replied saying 'I want you to do something for me after I die'.. he asked her what it was and she replied saying.. ' I want you to gather whatever is remaining of our bodies and I want you to bury us in the same grave.. because I want to be resurrected with my children.. and I want to enter Jannah with my children'..

And so they threw her into the oil...

This is the status of the Mu'min.. when they said 'RABBI ALLAH', Allah is my Lord.. they were tortured and they did not care because they knew their home - Al Jannah!!!

May Allah (SWT) make us amongst the dwellers of paradise - Allahumma Aameen..

Assalaamu alaykum sis i changed the title for you.

I have a Q though this confused me a little as this narration is different than what I have heard about the story of Maashetah, which is that her children were slaughtered on her chest by Firawn's order.

This incident of a child speaking to say "isburee yaa umma innaki 3alal 7aqq" this happened during the time of the people of the ditch, which is mentioned in sa7ee7 hadeeth. (the hadeeth is a long one, and this aspect is mentioned briefly in the end).
So I feel confused that perhaps here the two stories have been mixed together in a way? so I wondered what is the source of this?

Also I dont kno the source for the account whch I have heard about Maashetah, so perhaps there are errors in that one wallahu alam, but it is a very emotional and powerful story and it would b nice 2 know it n have it straight in my mind.

How I hav heard it, is kind of as a precursor to the story of Aasiya and how she died, cos of course these two were contemporary to each other

:jkk: sis...this story is a great reminder of the love and dedication we should have for Allaah SWT and His deen, today we see so many brothers and sisters stop doing their fardh (e.g. not wearing hijaab/beard, not praying on time) just to progress further in the dunya without giving a thought to their submission to Allaah swt

the hadith

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “On the night on which I was taken on the Night Journey (Isra’), a beautiful fragrance came to me. I said: O Jibreel, what is this beautiful fragrance? He said: This is the fragrance of the hairdresser of Pharaoh’s daughter and her children. I said: What is their story? He said: Whilst she was combing the hair of Pharaoh’s daughter one day, the iron comb fell from her hand and she said, ‘Bismillaah (in the name of Allaah).’ The daughter of Pharaoh said: ‘My father?’ She said: ‘No. My Lord and the Lord of your father is Allaah.’ She said: ‘I will tell him about that.’ She said: ‘Yes.’ So she told him and he summoned her and said: ‘O So and so, do you have a Lord other than me?’ She said: ‘Yes, my Lord and your Lord is Allaah.’ He ordered that a baqarah (lit. “cow”) made of copper be heated up, then he ordered that she and her children be thrown into it. She said: ‘I have a request to make of you.’ He said: ‘What is your request?’ She said: ‘I would like my bones and my children’s bones to be gathered together in one cloth and buried.’ He said: ‘This will be done for you.’ He ordered that her children be thrown into it in front of her, one by one, until they came to the last one who was an infant boy who was still being breastfed. It was as if she wavered because of him, but he said: ‘O mother, go ahead, for the punishment of this world is easier to bear than the punishment of the hereafter.’ So she went ahead.” Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: Four infants spoke: ‘Eesa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him), the companion of Jurayj, the witness of Yoosuf and the son of the hairdresser of Pharaoh’s daughter.

Narrated by Imam Ahmad in al-Musnad (1/309), al-Tabaraani (12280), Ibn Hibbaan (2903) and al-Haakim (2/496).

Jazakallah Khayr for that akhy :) So it seems then that the other account has got some errors in it, because the other one mentions reptile pits and all sorts of things :S Also then does this mean that the child of the mother @ the time of the ppl of the ditch, is 'the companion of Jurayj'? or who is this Jurayj?

wa iyyakum

there may be othe hadiths with more details :S ...Allah knows best

story of jurayj :)

The story of the devoted worshipper Jurayj, which was told by the Prophet (PBUH), is a vivid illustration of the importance of respecting one's parents and being quick to obey them. One day his mother called him whilst he was praying, and he wondered, "My Lord, my mother or my prayer?" He chose to continue his prayer (rather than answering his mother). She called him a second time, but he continued praying and did not answer her. Then she called him a third time, and when he did not respond she prayed to Allah (SWT) not to let him die until he had seen the face of a prostitute. There was a prostitute in that locality who had committed adultery with a shepherd and become pregnant. When she realised that she was with child, the shepherd told her: "If you are asked about the father of the baby, say it is Jurayj, the devoted worshipper." This is what she said, so the people went and destroyed the place where he used to pray. The ruler brought him to the public square, and on the way Jurayj remembered his mother's prayer and smiled. When he was brought forth to be punished, he asked for permission to pray two rak`ahs, then he asked for the infant to be brought forth and whispered in his ear, "Who is your father?" The infant said, "My father is so-and-so, the shepherd."4 The people exclaimed "La ilaha illa-Allah" and "Allahu akbar!" They told Jurayj, "We will rebuild your prayer-place with silver and gold!" He said, "No, just rebuild it as it was, with bricks and mortar." Concerning this story, which is reported by al Bukhari, the Prophet (PBUH) said: "If Jurayj had sound knowledge, he would have known that answering his mother was more important than continuing his prayer."5 Hence the fuqaha' suggested that if one is praying a nafil prayer and one of one's parents calls one, one is obliged to stop one's prayer and answer them.
