Not sure if you all read the thread before but anyway, I am going to create a site, for the Ummah.com Forum Community and the public!

We need YOUR help!...

The site is going to be a multimedia oriented database allowing peopel to upload media, audio/video etc, and add their media to our database so the general public can download freely.

This saves the nag using multiple sites to find things, when it can all be indexed in one place, and stored at that place too so you willk never experience "dead link" or "downtime" or "file not found"!

We currently need, respected members for Moderating the media community for Ummah. That means, it will be your job to block, or remove if neccesary, all unacceptable media that is uploaded by individuals. Also make sure that the place stays clean, no flood member signups etc..

We also need people to jump start the community by sharing their media they currently have, so we can start with a already existing database,

We would like volunteers to step up, if they are willing to support and assist the new Ummah Media website. I.e. Making this thread a sticky can be a start.

I am going to make sure the Media website will work interoperably with these forums, meaning that their will be NO NEED for comments to any multimedia, so commentslink will redirect you to the respective thread on Ummah Forum!

The new media website is ADVERT FREE, meaning you won't get popups, adverts or anythin you don't like! You will be leaned towards visiting ummah forum though...

If anyone wants to help, contact me by private message.
We can host a maximum of 150gb, if we require more space, it can easily be arranged! We have more bandwidth than that will ever be used in a year!

Any questions and comments would be appreciated.

The site you posted is not quite what THIS site will be.
We will be INDEXING (in a database) most/all the islamic multimedia available and HOST them for download all in one place, thats audio and VIDEO.

The site will be simple, and all trackbacks for each multimedia item (comments for example) will be linked to the respective thread on this forum..making it interoperable seamlessly...

I hope you understand the different concept...Also, users form this forum will be involved as to controlling the site......

Site is pickin up real quickly, I didn't think I could have any news for atleast a few more weeks, but I have!

Firstly, The system is in place (meaning it is able to operate but currently in a BETA stage), the Indexing service is active (meaning it works) BUT, a few minor tweaks is needed to the system backend to allow recursion (mass multiple downloads, and queries from mySQL)

Mashallah the goriya friends over at host gator have honoured me with sufficient bandwidth. 1 TB (1,000gb) per month. That in laymans terms is a capacity to allow MILLIONS of media downloads per month.

I have so far created the site in a simple fashion. Just like you see all the top sites, google, yahoo, youtube, msn etc. They use LESS images and GFX to preserve MORE bandwidth...If you noticed anyway..i considered for the future inshallah that it is simple enough that the whole system, during some backend tests projected to run off 1gb a month at 10,000 users. Thisofcourse doesn't include downloading of data, just using the site thoroughly.... That is PRETTY good... (put it into perspective a heavily gfx'd site would project over 50gb a month at a capacity like that)

Anyways!
Their is just ONE problem. Sadly enough to allow the system to run smoothly for everyone (memory) I had to limit the UPLOADS to 10mb. Through your browser... That means if you have a file larger, you won't be able to upload it with success, you would simply timeout (to prevent overload in memory buffer..overload will cause a lot of latency...aka lag)
But a SOLUTION was born...

Files larger than 10mb, I am currently working on the index engine to allow FTP upload. FTP access will be granted publicly, where you can freely upload using your favorite ftp software, as BIG file as you want...The indexer is going to index ftp uploads and sync to the database every 12 hours, meaning files will be moved from ftp to a protected location and then showing up on site...
This is also great for those wishing to upload in QUANTITY not just in size. It makes it all in quick succession...

Furthermore, The site is operating and I have been using dummy files to test it...I am working on the "ftp to index" service aswell as the members service.
As far as members go so far, They are only granted permission to upload. But at the moment, uploading is set public, so their would not be a need to register to upload...Also to register a Operator (moderator) would need to set up your account, as I havent YET made the signup form.
Laymans terms, a member account would yeild no privaledges yet...

I hope thats news! For those eager eyes out their, I will post the link to the site within a few hours, as I need to make sure the dummy files dont interfere and get mixed with YOUR uploads...

For those who wish to be a moderator (operator), Contact me in PM or in this thread and I will PM you the admin panel url and a user name and password... Currently operators will NOT be granted to DELETE anything, just edit and add, reason being its an open invitation and any "skank" can come and RUIN my hard work. It has happened before on a gaming community for children...
After the site has launched I will raise privaledges, I hope thats okay...

Anyways...the url will be coming soon, and I hope it is okay if I can borrow this sites logo to show devotion :o) If it is not okay, I can fix it..

Everything seems to work fine as far as my testing goes, except for Members service (still workin on this) and FTP Service.
That doesn't mean you can't upload!!!!

Public UPLOAD is enabled, so feel free to upload as much as you want.

When it asks for NAME, this is what will shwo up in the database, so it DOESNT have to include the file extension or any undercores (_)

All downloads must be made directly through the sites engine, if you attempt to direct download, you could be banned by the script. Thank you!

A new concept for the site I thaught is like a "request and fill" thing.
If you guys want, when someone requests some multimedia on here, feel free to Upload it for them, leaving a comment in the description that the reust has been filled and post the url to your upload on the requestee's thread.

I think that is an interestin concept, 1 of many to come for www.alUmmahMedia.com (don't forget, copyright mutlimedia, cannot be uploaded, in turn will be removed)

If anyone has any suggestions for changes, or ease of use or even addition of more categories, let me know, and it can be done.

Keep the uploads coming. :)
