Hello,
I have heard people say that the quor'an is considered the exact words of Allah as handed down to muhammad.
Is this considered "common knowledge" or is there someplace in the quo'ran where it specifically and clearly states this fact?
I have read a fair amount of the quo'ran but I have yet to find any phrases that make it clear to me that the quo'ran is to be considered the direct words of allah.
Did I somehow miss it, or is it not there, but accepted among scholars to be the exact words of allah?
I am not questioning if the quo'ran is the words of Allah, I am just trying to figure out how Muslims conclude that.
I would appreciate any useful information that can help me answer this question.
Thanks!

82. Do they not consider the Qurán (with care)? Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found therein much discrepancy.
Women (Surah 4)
1. By the Star when it goes down,-
2. Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled.
3. Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire.
4. It is no less than Inspiration sent down to him:
5. He was taught by one Mighty in Power,
6. Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form);
7. While he was in the highest part of the horizon:
8. Then he approached and came closer,
9. And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer;
10. So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey.
11. The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw.
12. Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw?
The Star (Surah 53)
82. We send down (stage by stage) in the Qurán that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe: to the unjust it causes nothing but loss after loss.
83. Yet when We bestow Our favors on man, he turns away and becomes remote on his side (instead of coming to Us), and when evil seizes him he gives himself up to despair!
84. Say: "Everyone acts according to his own disposition: But your Lord knows best who it is that is best guided on the Way."
85. They ask thee concerning the Spirit. Say: "The Spirit is off the command of my Lord: of knowledge it is only a little that is communicated to you, (O men!)"
86. If it were Our Will, We could take away that which We have sent thee by inspiration: then wouldst thou find none to plead thy affair in that matter as against Us, -
87. Except for Mercy from thy Lord: for His Bounty is to thee (indeed) great.
88. Say: "If the whole of mankind and Jinns were to gather together to produce the like of this Qurán, they could not produce the like thereof, even if they backed up each other with help and support.
89. And We have explained to man, in this Qurán, every kind of similitude: yet the greater part of men refuse (to receive it) except with ingratitude!
The night journey (Surah 17)
12. Perchance thou mayest (feel the inclination) to give up a part of what is revealed unto thee, and thy heart feeleth straitened lest they say, "Why is not a treasure sent down unto him, or why does not an angel come down with him?" But thou art there only to warn! It is Allah that arrangeth all affairs!
13. Or they may say, "He forged it," Say, "Bring ye then ten Sürahs forged, like unto it, and call (to your aid) whomsoever ye can, other than Allah.- If ye speak the truth!

Also, 'The Spirit' referred to is Gabriel, as is 'the one mighty in power'. Gabriel is the angel whose function is to be the mouthpiece of Allah.
The hadith of Gabriel establishes this fact.

Yes it is the Word of Allah SWT and every Muslim knows this so it is common knowledge. It was transmitted by the Creator ASWT through Archangel Gabriel (AS) to Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
It was revealed through inspiration. The Prophet memorised all the verses taught to him (SAW) by Gabriel (AS). It says in various places in the Noble Qur'an that it is the Word of God i.e. Allah SWT. That is why it mentions time and again punishment for those who belie 'Our ayat' (verses, evidence, signs, lessons) in various parts of the Noble Qur'an.
You've been her for ages, your posts always 'tell' Muslims what's in the Noble Qur'an and what their religion is about, and yet you ask such a strange question! Quaint.
