View Full Version : Does Anyone Have Office 2007?
I currently only have Office 2000, and I can't even figure out Excel on there. Are Office 2003 and Office 2007 really, significantly more advanced than Office 2000?

Office 2003 is better.
Office 2007 is different from 2000 / 2003. they've changed the menu.
I've only used the beta version of office 2007 6 months ago, n uninstalled it, cos it was too buggy.
You can try it out for yourself for free if you have internet explorer and a hotmail account

As Salaamu Alaikum,
I've just installed Office 2007, took a little getting used to. But there's only one way forward hey. The interface it totally changed, more of the Windows Vista style i.e. bright blue colours.

people still use office 97.
ever since office 97, nothing significant has really changed. I would say, stick to 2000. I got 2003 and 2000, but I use 2k3 since I paid for it....
I haven't seen 2007, but knowing microsoft and how they do things, its best NOT to upgrade.
just my opinion though.

As Salaamu Alaikum,
Here is how it looks, keep in mind this is a drastic change from previous versions:
Ma'aSalaama
so basically they just rearranged the menus. the functions, macros and such all work the same. same compatibility and all.
i would not pay hundreds of dollars more just to upgrade from 2k3 for that.
it looks nice though, but nice doesn't compare to effectiveness.
just my two poishas...

As Salaamu Alaikum,
It has more features, as well as the ability to install add-ons. But yes I would never pay for it.

walaikum as salam,
what are the new features bhai? installing add ons isn't anything new. even office 97 allowed add-in's and macros.
personally I think ms office is the best office suit ever. but i hate microsoft. i hate the way they try to make you buy new versions of the same thing which they just make more fruity. like stepping from 2kpro to xp pro. honestly...what's the difference besides the "fancy" gui? same with going from office 2k/2k3 to 2k7. remember when microsoft tried to make people switch from windows 98 to windows 98 SE? that was terrible.... and then from 98 SE to windows ME which was such a rip off....
as salamu alaikum.

*lol* true, I don't know the intricate details. But there is definately a different feel/experience when using version 2007. It also comes with the following: Microsoft Office Access 2007. Microsoft Office Excel 2007. Microsoft Office Groove 2007. Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007. Microsoft Office OneNote 2007. Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007. Microsoft Office Publisher 2007. Microsoft Office Word 2007.
I once tried using OpenOffice, was utter rubbish in comparison. But I guess that’s because unlike Microsoft they don’t have the financial muscle.

whoa, that's a whole lotta apps! if i can buy it for the same price i bought 2003, then I might buy it in the not to distant future. Right now, I simply use Outlook 2003, PowerPoint 2003 and MS Word 2003 on a daily basis. Excel I don't use as much but I imagine once I get into my finance classes I might have to use it often.
but whoa...that's a whole lotta apps. I heard OneNote was kind of useful. I remember reading about it somewhere on the net, about some college student making use of it in great detail. Publisher looks promising and something I might want to look into....
I imagine this is the pro version though?

i don't know bhai...i just feel like i'm stealing it if i don't pay for it. i know its good to hurt m$ by pirating their software, hopefully they'll fall one day, but I don't feel right using pirated software.
besides... i'm a student so I get student discount on stuff. MS Office 2003 for example costed me only $140 USD compared to like $400 USD retail. XP Pro cost me only $87 USD but costed $300 USD retail.

i wish lol. aint nothing free about my college. it's a good college in terms of education (very tough courses), but they expect you to buy everything on your own. the best they do is really just point to student discount stores they have affiliations with. but nothing free unfortuneately. Not even free subscription to norton anti-virus like my old uni :(
