Sis Noor...Bro Umars suggestions are good. What you also should consider is that alternative chips such as Athalon and Celeraon are cheaper...thus you can get a faster computer for cheaper.

As for RAM do not go below 128Mb simply becuase the systems these days will not function effectivley without them. However, don't worry about going for the fastest RAM as a home office use computer doesn't really need it.

Most computers these days come with a CR/RW and if there is an option get the DR/RW instead of a DVD Drive because the CD/RW is more practical. Additionally a internal DVD drive is cheap to get installed later if need be.

If you are playing games or wanting to process graphics then i suggest you get a independant video card i.e. like a TNT 3 +...the same applies with a sound card...you can get a relatively cheap one which is good...i.e. sound blaster.

If you really want to save money you can buy a second hand monitor as the price of a new one is often ridiculous...the same as periphers such as mouse key board etc etc.

Hope that helps..

Well it's nice to know I'm not a supporter of Zionism.. I wasnt aware of the Intel/Israeli connection... but Intel is bad enough as it is, anyway. :D

Noor, a really cost effective way is to buy a bare bones package and put it together your self of have someone that knows how to put one togehter do it for you. This way you can whichever motherboard, proccessor, video card, sound card, etc that you want.

In order to get a Dell or Gateway computer with Intel thats about equal to the computer I have, I'd probably have to spend about $3000 plus the monitor.

I only paid a little over $900 for the following at Fry's:

900Mhz AMD Duron processor
256K DDRAM
30GB Maxtor hardrive
FIC AN19E motherboard
ATI Rage Fury Pro video card
Soundblaster Audigy Gamer sound card
Sony 16x CDRW
Sony DVD-ROM
Floppy
Yamaha speakers (YST-MS201) (3 speaker system)
A cheap keyboard
Logitech optical mouse.

The only thing I didnt pay for was the monitor.. because my brother let me use one of his old ones. :D
I don't know if the have a Fry's or something like it near you... but I would look around and see if there are any computer supply warehouse stores nearby.

I highly recomend AMD processor and FIC motherboard. I tried a bunch of other name brands but none of them agreed with my sound card. By now, if I were to buy my same computer, it would probably be half the price!

Try looking out for a Athlon processor and check out the cost difference with the Duron. Do the same for DDR Ram and SD ram. (Rd ram would be too expensive however you could check that out too)

You havent mentioned what motherboard does the system have. The motherboard makes a hell lot of difference to the performance of your system.

What make is the AGP??? Geforce is one of the best.

The cost difference between the 40GB and 20Gb HDD is not much so...

That sounds like a pretty good PC... How much are they charging for that setup?

like thekid suggested, you could probably get a larger hard drive for not much more money. My mother bought a 120 gig for the same price as my 30 gig a year and a half after I got mine. The stuff gets less expensive all the time.

Also, do you know what brand the sound card is? I only trust Creative (makers of Soundblaster) becasue they are the biggest name brand. In most cases it's best to go with the name brand rather than something new and lesser known. (AMD being the exception, of course)
