AssalaamuAlaykum Warahmatullah

I've recently updated my Internet Explorer to the Windows Internet Explorer 7 version but for some reason after I restarted, my desktop became 'inactive' so I selected the 'restore active desktop'.

However this came up :S

what do I do to get my desktop back? without this message appearing? and does anybody know how I can prevent that particular message from coming up?

and also, when I open a new internet explorer window, this comes up first

1) why does it come up?
2) what am I supposed to do?
3) why does it say 'ERROR ON PAGE' ?
4) How do I make my Homepage(google) come up first instead of that? :S

I would apprieciate any sort of help :) :jkk:

Walaykum Salam Wa Rahmatullah,

Sorry if I'm not much help, I a loser mac user now, so forgotton how to use a PC but from what I remember. The internet explorer problem, basically your homepage is msn as default always. Go to erm i think...

tools > intenret option > homepage (and then type google.com)

Will help fix first problem in a sec insha'Allah.

The second problem, click activate, then click yes keep running scripts..

The choose your background you want and press F5 and remove the internet explorer shortcut.

Why does that other page come up is because your default homepage is thet poo page, what you do is change the page as above, error because the page is poo and to fix it do above.

And I just made all that up right now, so I cant guarantee it works.

Try going to

Start > erm *tries to remember* > control panel? > internet options

And try changing from there, or actually go to google.com and if i remember correclt,y press I think ctrl + d and it makes it your homepage. Actually I dont think it does.

I recommened you download Firefox anwyays, better than IE explorer.

there's a easy solution: REMOVE IE7.

IE7 was made for vista, a OS that very few people are running right now. There's a XP version out which has been causing everyone problems from day one. IE6 was bad, but with IE7, Microsoft went even lower than before. Anyway you don't need IE7. There's absolutely no reason why anyone would install IE7 when IE6 is still functional for windows update (and that's all IE should be used for anyway).

I recommend using Firefox like brother Abu Muslim has mentioned. I don't understand what looks so hard about it though.

Install the program like you would any other program. Open up firefox by double clicking the icon on your desktop. There's a Address bar (the long one), just type in the URL you want to goto, and press Enter.

If you can use IE7, u should be fine with firefox since IE7 is basically a rip off, of firefox....a very bad rip off which causes people headaches...

i have ie7 installed onm yxp machine here at work.. initially it gave me problems but now it seems ok..
ie7 has some usefull aspects ot it.. like having many tabs on one brower.. or having more than one homepage so when you open 2 or 3 come up..
my advise would be un install ie7 again.. through control l panel add.remove programmes..
then un isntall ie6 then reboot and re-install ie7 again..
