Ordinary forum members can't see that, however the admins can, your IP address shows to them, then all they need to do is put your IP address into a tracing program and it will tell them where you are located.

Yes, generally speaking they can tell you what country/city you’re at. But like I said, it's not always correct, since IP address are not (always) unique. It is quite possible for 2 or more users to have the same IP address.

There are ways to hide/mask ones IP address, by showing instead a fake one instead, although I am not familiar with how it can done.

If your on a router that will tell you your LAN ip address, you get your ISP ip address, if on a router, by looking at your router administration menu. To access that go the following website 192.168.0.1. But if your ISP has not given your a static ip address, then you ip address will always be different.

cmd is short for "Command Prompt" also known as 'dos'

IPconfig tells you your ip address.

However you can't get other people's ip addresses so easily.

if you use linux there are tonnes of command line tools which come built in...although in ubuntu and its deratives for some reason theyre omitted :scratch:

you can install them though via apt...

theres traceroute, finger, whois etc all from the command line ;)

err dunno...all i know is it sends some tcp packets and traces where they go?

If you ever knew what they have done to the island of Manhattan, you would be shocked. Its practically hollow underneath, and so much land has been added to island. The twin towers were located in the lower part of manhattan. It looks grey because of all those skyscrapers. Did you see tokyo at night?

Try and check out Bayonne, NJ on google earth. The town i live in is a peninsula.
