As Salaamu Alaikum,
I kindly request that you please bear with me, as this will take a little explaining.
I have started work on a personal project, something I’ve envisioned for a number of years now. It requires large amounts of cumulative research, and may well take a number of years. The MediaWiki (http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki) openSource software is my chosen medium.
I have a GoDaddy (shared) hosting package, with the following specifications:
Disk Space 5GB
Monthly Data Transfer 250 GB
Databases MySQL (10)
Language Support Server Side Includes (SSI), PHP4 or PHP5, Custom PHP.ini/PHP5.ini*
Pre-Installed Apps ImageMagick
*I’ve managed to delete the PHP.ini files from root, so Insha’Allah if someone can direct me to where I can quickly find a replacement it’ll be very much appreciated.
Ok, upon installation of MediaWIki, here are the results of the environmental check:
PHP 5.1.4 installed
Found database drivers for: MySQL
PHP server API is cgi-fcgi; using ugly URLs (index.php?title=Page_Title)
Have XML / Latin1-UTF-8 conversion support.
PHP is configured with no memory_limit.
Have zlib support; enabling output compression.
Couldn't find Turck MMCache (http://turck-mmcache.sourceforge.net/), eAccelerator (http://eaccelerator.net/)or APC (http://uk.php.net/apc). Object caching functions cannot be used.
GNU diff3 not found.
Found ImageMagick: /usr/bin/convert; image thumbnailing will be enabled if you enable uploads.
Found GD graphics library built-in.
Installation directory: /home/content/a/l/d/aldhikr/html/home
Script URI path: /home
Environment checked. You can install MediaWiki.
For the best configuration (results) I would like to meet all the before mentioned (above) criteria as vigorously as possible, Insha’Allah. So before I can install the following requires correction:
PHP server API is cgi-fcgi; using ugly URLs (index.php?title=Page_Title)
I understand the implications of this, but does anyone know of a remedy?
Couldn't find Turck MMCache (http://turck-mmcache.sourceforge.net/), eAccelerator (http://eaccelerator.net/)or APC (http://uk.php.net/apc). Object caching functions cannot be used.Using a shared memory system such as Turck MMCache, APC, eAccelerator, or Memcached will speed up MediaWiki significantly. Memcached is the best solution but needs to be installed. Specify the server addresses and ports in a comma-separted list. Only use Turck shared memory if the wiki will be running on a single Apache server. This is a little too advance for my understanding, and since I’m on a shared hosting package do I even have access/permission to install any of these. If so which one to install, and how can I go about doing it? If it’s a straight forward upload and install then Alhamdulilah that would be extremely convenient.
GNU diff3 not found.
I gather this is something to do with images, where/how should I go about here?
I can appreciate I’m asking for quite a bit, but I would be extremely grateful for any help at all.
Jazaak Allahu khair for spearing a few minutes of your time to read this, It’s greatly appreciated.
Ma’aSalaama
