Hanafis & The Hadra

As Salam Alikum

I was reading an article somewhere (can't remember) and it mentioned that the great Hanafi Fuqha Maulana Ashraf 'Ali Thanvi considered the hadra to be permissible that the Sufi's hold like the Shadhili Tariqa.


Any Hanafi's have any information on this fatwa? It sounds very interesting considering the Deobandi Akbar would prohibit such things like this and the mawlid due to sadd al-dhura.


Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hanafee is a school of Fiqh, people can be hanafee and also be part of a sufi tariqah completly detatched to jurisprudence.

The great Sufia had belonged to one of the 4 madhabs usually.

Ah Sidi thats why I specifically mentioned the Shadhili Tariqa....their is a fatwa out their stating its permissible...I just need to get my hands on it from the Hanafi Akbar.

The hadra is for men only ofcourse no intermingling but it has music without instruments.

Here is what i'm talking about...this is a hadra from the Late Shaykh Abdal-Rahman Shaghouri (May Allah Santify his Secret)

Now I don't want anyone's comments saying this is bidah because their is a clear difference of opinion on the hadra and Shaykh Nuh Keller has written a detailed defence of this practise with proof from hadiths and the opinion of the Shafi Fuqha.

Shaykh Ibn al-Banna writes in great detail about the proofs used for permissibility of the hadra and then also writes the counter proofs for forbidding the hadra.

The Malikis are divided over the hadra Allahu Alum.

And Yes Sidi Salman thank you for the reminder but I wanted specific info the Shadhili Tariaq since I know many hanafi ulema disapprove of it, but I was shocked to hear a fatwa is out their considering it permissible by the deobandi akbar.
