Hello,
I am right now into a phase where I have decided that christianity, my birth religion, is not for me. Not only that I have a hard time accepting the idea that G-d, Blessed is He, should be three entities, but I also dont see exactly how Jesus qualifies to be a Messiah. I have been reading a lot about Judaim and I'm strongly leaning towards it - and has begun to practice halacha. But before totally devoting my life to mitzvos and Torah I would like to get some input from muslems. I actually don't know that much about islam.
To get an idea if islam can be what I'm seeking for, I want to have a real answer for these questions. If they have been answered before on the forum, I'm extremely sorry for repeting them. I just need help.
1: Is it true that those who convert away from islam should be put to death?
2: Can you accept the Quran as a historical document, but not as a divine guide, and be a muslem?
Be well,
Ramlösa

Some who has more knowledge on Islam should explain those questions to you. Though if you chose Islam it would be the greatest desicion of your life. I am sure you know all the bad things in the news about Muslims but if you were to follow Islam and embrace it is truely a beautiful thing. I found Islam answered all my questions and the Islamic teachings have put me on a straight path away from great sins.

1. Welcome to the forum. No apologies needed. It is important you realized that you need to seek the truth. First recognize that there is a difference between the faith and laws/regulations in religion. If you don't understand the fundamentals of belief the laws will not make sense. Check the top of this forum for the sticky that says introduction to Islam. Jesus (peace be upon him)is a prophet in Islam not a deity as in christianity. He continued the tradition of the Prophets (peace be upon them before them) before from Adam to Abraham to Moses and finally was succeeded by Muhammad (SAW). We too use the term messiah. It means the annointed one or the appointed one. Jesus (pbuh) spoke in his cradle to prove the innocence of his mother and his servitude to God. He was not killed on the cross. Anyone who accepted the prophet during that prophet's time is Muslim and whoever rejected him was a disbeliever. So, it is crucial to accept the final Messenger Muhammad and believe in one God. Allah means "The God" in arabic. The Quran was the revealed word of Allah to Muhammad (SAW) and it was his miracle and the proof that Islam is true. Unlike previous documents Allah promised to protect it for all time, and it must be taken as a divine guide. In fact the first lines of the second chapter declare this.
002.002
This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah;
002.003
Who believe in the Unseen, are steadfast in prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them;
002.004
And who believe in the Revelation sent to thee, and sent before thy time, and (in their hearts) have the assurance of the Hereafter.
2. Yes, Islam is the truth and religion is not a game so you must convince yourself this is true and accept it with your heart with no intention of jumping around between religions. When we say religion it does not solely indicate spiritualism as in other faiths. Rejecting truth after accepting it is equivalent to treason.
Allah knows best. Blessed are those who follow true guidance. Other bros/sis can clarify your questions since they know more. I just wanted to be part of the welcoming committee study as much as you like, we will help you in any way we can. :)
Welcome! Jazak Allah Khubaib!
May I add Islam embraces all the previous monotheitic religions (Judiasim and Christianity).
Say: "We believe in God and what has been sent down to us; what was sent down to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes; and what Moses, Jesus, and all the Prophets were given by their Lord. We do not differentiate between any of them. We are Muslims submitted to Him." (Qur'an, 3:84)
The only difference is that the Quran is preserved and unchanged as promised by Allah, thus it puts to rest all the falsehoods, contradictions and misconceptions that are found in the Torah and Bible.
Am I to desire someone other than Allah as a judge when it is He who has sent down the Book to you clarifying everything? Those We have given the book know it has been sent down from your Lord with truth, so on no account be among the doubters. (Surat al-An'am: 114)
And may Allah guide you onto the Right Path. Ameen. :)
