As Salaamu Alaikum,

We have a small home network, setup only so we can all share the net. It's been so long since I've kept up with this topic, and what I knew at the time I've since forgotten. So if anyone knows of any good links, references etc to material that would help me setup the following:

NETHEAR ROUTER

1x Computer
1x Computer, with printer
1x Laptop, with printer
?x Games Consoles

ADSL Broadband
File sharing

I want to setup it properly.

Jazaak Allahu khair.

As Salaamu Alaikum,

I'm already wired currently, although I would like to have my laptop work wireless, but only after it's working as it should wired.

p.s. I noticed you joined my site (some time back); webular.ws (www.webular.ws) ;p

Yes, CAT 5 Ethernet all over the house, and some pretty ugly holes to go with it. Also we are all using Windows XP.

Excellent.. well firtsly.. you would need to make sure they are all on the same Workgroup... name the Workgroup to something you recognise...

Make sure the Netwrok cards are configured to detect IP Automatically...
Get a Hub - and plug all the Cat 5 ends which are connected to the systems into the hub..

Share the Printers and folders you want to share, with rights access to whomever..

Go to client system, and mapp the printers and fodlers which you have sahred!

Im not too sure about the games consoles and their capabilities!

I was looking more for some in-depth articles/guides on the subject. Something I could cross reference with what I have setup.

Although Jazaak Allahu khair for your help.
