As Salaamu Alaikum,
Every time I run the Quick Time player, it re-installs the short cuts on the desktop, quick links and start menu. Does anyone have any idea how this can be stopped completely.
Jazaak Allahu khair.

bro, do u have iTUNES installed aswell? I heard of this problem from some other users aswell.
basically try running this command in cmd.exe (open up start|run and type in cmd then press enter):
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\msiexec.exe /i <path location>\QuickTime.msi DESKTOP_SHORTCUTS=0 REGSRCH_INSTALL_ASU=0 /qb
the <path location> should be replaced by the path to QuickTime.msi (which you may have to look up where it is, could be in the quicktime folder in program files or elsewhere)
you may also want to run this for iTunes just incase:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\msiexec.exe /i <path location>\Tunes.msi REGSRCH_DESKTOP_SHORTCUTS=0 REGSRCH_INSTALL_ASU=0 REGSRCH_MEDIA_DEFAULTS=0 /qb
hope that helps. if all else fails, you could always download "QuickTime Alternative" :coolbro:

Akhi, I can't seem to find that .msi file anywhere on my system.
Any idea where it is, otherwise I guess I'll just had to install the alternative version.
