i just have a question inshaAllah:

what is actually gossiping? I know i can find its meaning on online dictionaries but i want to know an example i mean, Alhumdulillah, i can tell i guess when somebody is gossiping but i am not sure myself if i am or not (may Allah forgive me n us all.Ameen). I ask this becuz i read Allah (SWT) hates gossiping (correct me if i'm wrong) and also Ayesha (Raditallah Anha) sent a message to a women gathering saying "put ur angels to rest." It means end the vain talk or gossiping. So what exaclt is it? If i talk about a brother or sister getting married,who is not related to me, what would that count as?

What I understand by gossiping is the sharing of all info which you have heard about other people, whether it has been varified as true. Ie the spreading of rumours and conjecture. An example would be like "I saw that sister talking to that brother, maybe that is her secret boyfriend" or some kind of a statement like that. Also backbiting would be a kind of gossiping I think.

i think gossipping is talking about someone to another person, saying things that you would otherwise have not said if the person being talked about was there.

however, if what is being said is in praise of something good the person has done, or involves giving necessary information to help describe the person, it would not be gossipping.

... this is my personal opinion, though
