MAGNIFIED DEEDS
"… Allah intends every facility for you He does not want to put you to difficulties…" (Qur'an 2:185)
Allah intends for us ease and success, thus making fasting compulsory. Had Allah made success optional, success would not be guaranteed for all. But rather than leave fasting for the few who have the strong will for success, Allah, from His Infinite Wisdom and Grace, made fasting in the month of Ramadan compulsory, so no one can come up with any excuse, ifs and buts.
First, Allah rewards each of our deeds during this period of fasting and the reward is magnified, so that everyone has the opportunity to earn and enjoy Allah's bounteous infinite mercy. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Every action of the son of Adam is given manifold reward, each good deed (of his will) receive ten times its like, up to seven hundred times. Allah the Most High said: 'He has left his food, drink and desires for My sake…, and that fast is for Me. So I will reward (the fasting person) for it'." (Muslim)
Secondly, everyone has the opportunity to earn Allah's pleasure and a happy meeting with Him. In the words of His Prophet (peace be upon him), " …There are two pleasures for the fasting person, one at the time of breaking his fast, and the other at the time when he will meet his Lord; then he will be pleased because of his fasting." (Bukhari)
Finally, a special privilege is opened to everyone and anyone who genuinely fast for Allah and is hopeful for His mercy. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "There is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Raiyan, and those who observe fasts will enter through it on the Day of Resurrection and none except them will enter through it. It will be said, 'Where are those who used to observe fasts?' They will get up, and none except them will enter through it. After their entry the gate will be closed and nobody will enter through it." (Bukhari).
Indeed, Allah intends for us ease and success, so He made fasting compulsory.

HOW DETAILED IS YOUR MAP?: Many people accuse Islam of too much details and too much interference. But think of a traveller with a map. The more comprehensive the map the easier his journey will be. We have been encouraged to live this life as if we are travellers, “Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveller." (Bukhari) Let us consult our comprehensive map every moment of our life and we shall end up in al-Jannah (Paradise) and those who refuse to consult a map or rather use a brief map, or the person who have the comprehensive map but consults it one is a while (rarely), should blame himself if he ends up in al-Jahanama (Hell).
