View Full Version : Praying behind a person with long pants, dress
Salam Alaykum
We know there are Ahadeeth telling us that it is not allowed to have a long pant or dress that is below the ankles. What is the situation about one who, while does not wear clothes below his ankles, has to pray behind someone who does? Is there any scholarly answer on this matter?

I (and I'm no scholar) would say that it should be highly-avoided. For instance, If I'm forced to pray behind an imam with no facial hair, I repeat my salah later. As for long pants, if they're dragging on the ground, and he's not aware of the hadith concerning dragging one's clothing on the ground, he shouldn't be leading prayers.

its allowed, its makrooh disliked to pray behind an imam without a beard. But due to necessity we have to. Unless his/her awrah is exposed the prayer is valid

As Salaamu Alaikum,
I believe women can lead women only congregational prayers. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong here.
Ma'aSalaama
a woman can lead the prayers for women only.
ok you say u will repeat ur salah if the imam has no beard  what happens when those famous qari would lead the salah and theres plenty who do not have beard, would u still repeat ur salah, does not having a beard and ur pants hanging below the ankle render ur salah baatil??? what about some ppl who cannot grow their beard or perhaps due to some skin problem cannot grow a beard. its like saying a man with a beard is better then a man without one.
if u should really read up the rules for the correctness of salah none of the things eg having a beared and trousers above the ankle is not a prerequisite for correctness.
and if u think ur gonna repeat ur salah cause ur salah is "not valid" u can even then render ur reward for making in jamat invalid. then i guess its no use for u going to mosque cause u never know who will be leading the salah.
or ur other option would be is not to bind urself to the imam. then again as i said its not part of the correctness of salah, it would just show ur ignorance on the rules of salah.
fair enuf that if u want to grow a beard then grow it, if u want to wear ur garments above the ankle then do it, but dont say its a prerequisite or a rule of the salah, in other words u'd be saying if the person do not fit the discription their salah is incorrect, and thats the dangers of making statements. its ur duty to learn the rules of salah.
