Ok, I heard that the angles of mercy will never enter your house if you have statues or pictures in it.

I've got few DVDs (obviusly it has pictues on the cover of actors etc) which i put away in my drawers. will this still prevent the angles from entering?

so basicly, only pictures on display that is not allowed?

Sidi this depends what school of fiqh you follow 2d and 3d images in the Maliki fiqh are permissible to draw or to have on items. The hadith mentions statutes which are forbidden but the Ulema disagree over the word *tasweer* and from what I am aware as mentioned by Shaykh Faraz on sunnipath, that even the Hanafi Ulema have a difference of opinion on this. So in Maliki fiqh it would be okay to have those dvd's and you do not even have to put them in the drawer and inshallah the Angels of Mercy would have no problem entering your home.

Remember the layman should not look at the hadith and try to form a ruling based on it alone, it would be better to follow qualified scholarship.

As for the Hanbali and Shafi madhab I am not aware of their opinion on this, if I have time I will look it up in Bidyat al-Mujtahid inshallah.

With Allah is all Success.

statues are not allowed in islam.
Allah says that we should not worship idols, idols can be man, objects, planets, it can be worldy possessions as well.
i take it as if pictures are not allowed, then we cannot have images of sunsets or rises or moons or mountains or seas and rivers, as all of that in some other religions are forms of "Gods" not only humans or animals. so if images are not allowed in ones home then we might as well not have them too, then we might as well not have childrens islamic books nor any other type of islamic books with images in it. then islam will be going back in time instead of going with time, for islam is a progressing religion with in accordance of the laws ofcorse.
