when you go from qiyam to sujood u say allahu akbar..is that what you mean...and also in between the two sujoods too inshaAllah. :up:

brother some sincere advice, maybe you should buddy up with a bro atthe masjid and ask him to take you through the motions of prayer if you are confused :up:

Yes, you are required to make takbir. I think I know what you're talking about, and I believe you have it confused with al-Fatiha in Jama'a (congregation).

Some schools of thought forbid the recitation of any surah, while the Imam is leading. Some don't, and their evidence is from the Bukhari hadith, "If one does not recite al-Fatiha in prayer..."

Mistakes, such as one extra raka'a, can be made up for with Sajdai Sauw', done after taslim. There are others that can invalidate your prayer ie laughing, talking, etc.
