[Chair introduces]
Syed Adnan Kaka-Khail Sahib - Jamia Uloomul Islamiya, Binori Town, Karachi
My comrades, yesterday, spoke well on this issue as well, but I would like to reiterate it in a concise manner.
In this there are no two ways (diversions) that our biggest issue is the loss of discipline, togetherness, and unity. But the thing to think about is this, that after 58 years, why are we still lacking in this? The reason for this is, that the foundational platform of the meaning of Pakistan was: La Illaha Illallah...but upon this confusion has been created. By a well-thought out plan, people are still talking about why was Pakistan created? what was the vision of the Quaid (founder of Pakistan)? Are these things not absolutely clear?!? And can the answer to this question be given by me or you, or by that generation, who in the struggle for Pakistan mixed its blood in the dust of this land? This is making a joke of their souls. This is making a joke of their souls. A joke of their sacrifices. That we say: "you went and died, but we dont know what your problem/issue was."
Our second biggest problem is the uncertain condition of peace and order. Unfortunately, sometimes it is blamed that Islam is responsible for this. Even though, a study of the Quran shows that above anything else, Islam puts emphasis on Peace and Order. Look at the Dua of Ibrahim (as), we will talk of material conditions later, we will talk of economy later, first we will talk of Peace. He says: "My Lord, make this dwelling of mine an abode of peace." THEN, he says: "and those who live within it, improve their conditions (material)." And when Allah recounts the blessings upon Ibrahim, it says: "We settled you in such a place that would be returned to often, and an abode of peace." But this point is absolutely clear and agreed upon. But the problem is, WHY has our Peace and Order been destroyed? How did our youth drift towards terrorism? and Why do we sink deeper into the quicksand of lawlessness everyday? Mr. President, it should be noted, that this lesson was not taught to him by any religion, this lesson was not taught to him by any deen. It is class games, an unjust system, disrespect of talent, the hollowness of the corpse of education, limitless corruption, and the misuse of power, it is these dangerous trends which have driven the youth in this direction. You need to fix these problems, and then you will see if these youth are terrorists or lovers of peace.
Our third biggest problem, which at this moment is of upmost importance, the establishment of a tradition of democracy. Until now we have failed to acheive a true culture of democracy or a respect of the peoples mandate. Assemblies break and form, electoral fraud, and Mr. President, the tradition of bypassing of parliament in important public issues has removed the peoples trust in the system. For this, we should learn a lesson from our neighboring country (India), from where Mushahid (Musharraf) Sahib has come, and where you are soon about to go (i think he means literally). Ours and theirs, the date of independence is the same. Both us and them, have been given the same amount of time, but they have strenghtened their democratic path so much, that no matter how incompetent the government is, no matter what catastrophe breaks upon them, it is not possible that the army will leave home and come to the seat of rule. This same way, Mr. President, I understand, that today in this hall with the picture of the Quaid, the picture is asking you as you sit in front of it, that General, "you are the keeper of the frontiers, who has shown you the right/path to rulership?"
Esteemed sir, our third (fourth) biggest problem is the Elite Class Economy. Your future forecasting magicians are saying that the economy is propersing, the treasury is increasing, loans (we owe) have been reduced, kashkol (begging cup) has broken, and you constantly say that before we used to go to beg, and now we go to give. Yet the public is astounded, O Allah, what magic is this? The economy is prospering, yet the poors' stove is being blown out. The treasury is increasing, but the price of petrol is conversating with the skies. The value of the Rupee has devalued and come to stand at nothing. And in addition, Mr. President, you said that there is nothing wrong with celebrating Basant. Islam certainly does not forbid recreation, but in fact encourages healthy recreation. But do not celebrate on the graves of the struggles/hopes of the dispossessed and unsupported peoples. Look Islam says that, if in an house...it is a strange concept...OK, alright let people fly kites in their own homes, nobody calls this haram, but when the poor sees that in my stomach there is no bread, and my President is out flying a kite, he understands that there is gap amongst us. Absolutely. The poor says...The poor thinks and sees...you should be attuned to his feelings and thoughts. It is as if there is death in the house next door, and you sit in the next house and play a drum and say "I am free. The suffering is yours, not mine." No one can permit this. Any religion will say that you should be aware of his struggles, support him, and take him to your chest (as one of your own).
In addition, Mr. President, one very important thing that we feel, that some problems are exacerbated by the harshness of your language. You tell the peoples of Balochistan, "we will hit you from such a place that you wont even know from where we hit you." You are an elder of the nation, you should talk to the public just in the same way as you conversate with your son, Bilal. Mr. President, your tone is such that...my sister spoke about your uniform, you yourself spoke of the uniform to the 140 million people that on 31st of December you would remove the uniform, and then you reneged from the promise to the peoples?
Thank you.
