حدثنا الحميدي عبد الله بن الزبير قال حدثنا سفيان قال حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد الأنصاري قال أخبرني محمد بن إبراهيم التيمي أنه سمع علقمة بن وقاص الليثي يقول سمعت عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه على المنبر قال سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول إنما الأعمال بالنيات وإنما لكل امرئ ما نوى فمن كانت هجرته إلى دنيا يصيبها أو إلى امرأة ينكحها فهجرته إلى ما هاجر إليه


I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended. So whoever emigrated for worldly benefits or for a woman to marry, his emigration was for what he emigrated for."

salam alaykum brother,

I would love to memorise hadiths, but how about the forty najiyaat? The forty hadiths that were we to memorise and act on them will be sure to save us from the hell fire. They are the forty hadith nawawi since they were compiled by the imam alnawawi.

You have got one of them as your first hadith, I'll try to do a search for an online source if you agree with my suggestion?

but I can't find an online free commentary, I wonder if anyone on the ummah forum has the commentaries on these ahadith then we could post a hadith and someone post a commentary and memorise it that week, by the end of forty weeks we will have all the ahadith off by heart, I think it's a great idea for a study circle.

It comes in VOLUMES.

Bukhari is a compilation of thousands of ahadith.

And yes it's available in English. Would set you back a few hundred dollars I'm guessing.

i got a copy of bukhari. basically the copy i got is a big-compact book (sounds like a oxy moron eh)

i don't think it includes everything since the title itself is "Shahih Al Bukhari: A Summarized compilation"

personally i like the hard copy. i keep it in the living room along with all my other islamic books right next to the sofa. this way whenever someone comes to the house, they see it right there and may pick it up. i myself pick it up time to time simply because it's there.
